World Ozone Day 2012 Celebrated in Sri Lanka

Mr. Marco Gonzalez, Executive Director of Ozone Secretariat presenting a plaque to Minister of Environment Hon. Anura Priyadarshana Yapa on efforts contributed by Sri Lanka to protect Ozone Layer.

The National event of the World Ozone Day was celebrated on 21st September 2012 at the Art Folk Theater in Battaramulla. This event was held with the patronage of Hon. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Hon.Minister of Environment Hon. Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Mr. Maco Gonzalez Executive Director - Ozone Secretariat, Mr.Atul Bagai - Regional Coordinator UNEP Asia Pacific Region, and with the participation of Mrs. Rizana Bilgrami - Country Director of UNDP Colombo.

Emerging Young Leader Award 2012 – EYLA 2012 – a competition organized by the National Youth Services Council and Emerging Young Leaders Association under the supervision of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development, that seeks to discover a leader who can influence the world, held its Pre-Press Conference on 30th August 2012 at Hotel Taj Samudra, Under the chairing of Hon Dallus Alahapperuma, Minister of Youth and Skills Development.
