The human species' use of technology began with the conversion of natural resources into simple tools. The prehistoric discovery of how to control fire and the later Neolithic Revolution increased the available sources of food and the invention of the wheel helped humans to travel in and control their environment. Developments in historic times, including the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed humans to interact freely on a global scale. The steady progress of military technology has brought weapons of ever-increasing destructive power, from clubs to nuclear weapons.

10 People reported to be killed in Fiji due the monster cyclone “Winston” becoming the powerful and worst’s cyclone hit in the history of Fiji. Winds that reached 184mph lashed the tiny island in the Pacific Ocean causing heavy flooding.

1, 50,000 People displaced due to floods in South America

According to reports 1, 50,000 people affected due to floods in Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. 6 people have been killed so far due to  El Nino weather phenomenon which caused three major rivers to swell.

Climate Initiatives Must not Include Large Hydropower Projects, says NGOs

In a global manifesto released on 3 December 2015, a coalition of more than 300 civil society organizations from 53 countries called on governments and financiers at the Paris climate talks to keep large hydropower projects out of climate initiatives such as the Clean Development Mechanism, the World Bank’s Climate Investment Funds, and green bonds.
