Sri Lanka Move forward on national Road Map for Sustainable Development

Sri Lanka is committed to implementing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets. In doing so, Ministry of Sustainable Development and Wildlife as the national focal point for the SDGs in Sri Lanka is planning the National SDG Roadmap towards building capacity of the nation for enabling sustainable development. This workshop was held to formulate strategies and action plans for women and youth engagement for SDGs in Sri Lanka. The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka supported in organizing the workshop and together with other key stakeholder engagement.

Cloudy skies with Thundershowers expected

According to Met Department cloudy skies with thundershowers will exists till March 4th in the country. Heavy showers (above 100 mm) are also likely at some places, especially in the Eastern, Uva, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-central provinces.

Land Excavations tense Divulapitiya Development committee

Divulapitiya Development Committee was in tense after questioning on  land excavations threatening the Environment in the area. The Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake stated that the people are facing lot of issues due to land excavations taking place in the Divulapitiya area.

President instructs a gazette notification to extend wilpattu Forests cover

President Maithripala Sirisena instructed authorities to publish a gazette notification to declare Wilpatthu Sanctuary as a wildlife zone. Further President also instructed the officers concerned and investigate allegations of destruction took place at Wilpattu Sanctuary in the areas of Mannar and Puttalam districts and to  deploy a special team to inquire into it and submit a report.
