7.3 Magnitude Earthquake hits Iran and Iraq

According to reports at least 396 people been killed in Iraq and Iran due to the 7.3 magnitude earthquake. More than 7000 people injured and it’s the deadliest incident occurred during this year.

COP23 Kicks of with Fijian Style of Song

The opening of the conference (COP23, 6- 17 November) takes place against this year’s background of destructive hurricanes, fires, floods, droughts, melting ice and impacts on agriculture which threaten food security.

“All over the world, vast numbers of people are suffering – bewildered by the forces ranged against them. Our job as leaders is to respond to the suffering with all means available to us,” said newly elected COP23 President, Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama. “This means to meet our commitments in full, not back away from them.”

Germany supports developing countries in climate change adaptation

The German government opened the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn by announcing an additional 100 million euros to support developing countries in climate change adaptation. The Federal Environment Ministry has pledged 50 million euros to the Adaptation Fund and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is contributing another 50 million euros to the Least Developed Countries Fund which provides targeted support in climate change adaptation to the poorest countries.

Whale shark conservation approved in Manila Wildlife Conference

MANILA, PHILIPPINES- It was victory for conservation NGOs and for the delegates of the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Israel after the 12th Conference of the Parties on the Convention on Migratory Species (COP 12-CMS) recognized the need for the protection of the Rhincodun typus, commonly known as the Whale Shark.

Philippines gears up for first CMS Conference in Asia

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Hundreds of Illustrated migratory species have been set up alongside the busy streets of Manila in preparation of the country’s hosting of the 12th Conference of Parties (COP 12 )  to the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS)  to be held on 23-28 October.
