Vacant Areas Should Be Change To Forested Areas
Human-elephant conflict is continuing still in Sri Lanka,
Rotary club of Battaramulla was able to organize a seminar
recently with Dr.Devaka Weerakoon on this matter.
Dr. Devaka Weerakoon stated that more areas should be forested.
Especially in the areas of which the conflict is going on.
Not only in Sri Lanka, 12 Asian countries are facing
the same issue at this moment.
Dr. Weerakoon further said that 4000-5000 elephants
exists in Sri Lanka.
He also said that deaths caused by train accidents
has gone down this year.
For the past year 150 elephants and 65 people
have died due to the Human-elephant conflict in Sri Lanka.
