
New Life Found In The Seas Off Indonesia
An expedition which was carried out by the scientists from reveals that new marine species have been discovered in the seas off Indonesia. According to Verena Tunnicliffe, a professor at the University of Victoria in Canada more than 40 species have been discovered during the expeditions.
This expedition was carried out by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s ship, the Okeanos Explorer, and Indonesian vessel, the Baruna Jaya IV, Scientists used robotic vehicles and sonar mapping systems to explore 54,000 sq.km in depths of 240m, in the seas off Indonesia. Newly discovered species includes sea spiders and carnivorous sponges.
