Camel Dive
The Camel reef is located on the east side off Ploča,
Srivašnica cove in village Ražanj in Croatia. We dive following a
rope leading to anchor at the deep of about nine meters,
While swimming around the rocks we spotted
our first eggcase, old one, completely covered with corals. It was such
a beautiful view, for dedicated eggcase researcher
I was delighted with all I saw this dive. During
the research dive, we saw healthy capsules in stage of development and
also pretty old capsules tangled into gorgonia and covered with corals.
I looked really careful at capsules that we have passing by. On my way
down, I took two samples of already hatched eggcases covered with
corals, probably hanging on gorgonia for years.
Local dive center,Punta Planka, offers touristic dives to this special location. I`ve
been diving with the stuff, they specially told to not to
touch or remove the capsules in good because they don’t allow
tourist neither to touch anything down there. You should be
aware of the fact that most of capsules that laying down contains
live embryo inside and that touching capsules can easily kill the
sensitive embryo inside. Please avoid touching of those capsules in
the water. Understanding of this nature treasure is the key for saving
those endangered species. Those eggcase to be born will bring a new
healthy generation of sharks, swim safely
in our seas and oceans. We should bring only nice memories and
good photos after dives.
