World Food Day
World Food Day marked
was marked on October 16th by calling all the nations
to democratize agricultural research and to ensure food sovereignty.
The United Nations’ Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Olivier De Schutter, has backed citizens worldwide who are demanding a fundamental shift in food and agricultural research to make them more democratic and accountable to society.
Further De Schutter launched a multimedia publication on International Institute for Environment and Development to commemorate World Food Day.
This publication focuses on West Africa and includes video clips and audio files that feature the voices and concerns of food producers from across the region.
Similar Programs were launched on the World Food Day world wide.
