A press conference was held in Colombo recently

to brief about the South Asian Youth Summit on Climate Change 2010,

which will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka from the 27th-30th of October 2010 at the Subodhi institute.
Adopting the theme; Enthuse, Engage, Empower – this event is organized by the Sri Lanka Youth Climate Action Network
 which was founded in the aftermath of the tsunami to create greater awareness amongst youth on environment conservation and related issues.
Previously the South Asian Youth Summit on Climate Change summit was held in Dulikel, Nepal for the first time where 70 youth leaders and several national environmental networks gathered representing the
 South Asian Youth Movement on Climate Change.
Amongst the key objectives of the 2010 summit will be the forming of a common policy basis for the South Asian
 Youth Delegation for the COP 16 summit to be held in Cancun, Mexico in December 2010.
More than 50 participants from the South Asian Region will have confirmed their  participation for this year’s summit.
