Minister of Industry and Commerce Mr.Rishard Bathiuddeen intends

to export fresh water fish in future,

Minister  Bathiuddeen shared his views today at the Hilton Residence in Colombo.
Minister pointed out that Sri Lanka is well equipped to develop fresh water fish industry thanks
to the seasonal village tanks created by our ancient kings who ruled the dry zones.

The value of Sri Lanka’s fishery exports has increased from

US$103 million in the year 2005 to US$ 172 million in the year 2009
registering an average annual growth of 13.2%.
The 13% annual growth has been further increased by opening up of the Northern and Eastern regions
