Two Flame Retardants Found In Carpet Pads


A group of scientists of International Persistent Organic Pollutants Elimination Network (IPEN) found two flame retardants in commonly used carpet pads

sold to consumers in the USA and other developed countries which contain dangerous chemicals that can cause nervous system damage.  This was revealed at Geneva in Switzerland at the conference of the parties COP 5 Stockholm Convention.
According to reports the found two flame retardants (PentaBDE and OctaBDE) have been used daily in 170 countries around the world. Governments around the world will decide whether to continue allowing the recycling of materials containing these chemicals at the 5th Conference of the Parties of the Stockholm Convention.
