Policies Through Media
CCMP recently published a briefing paper
on recommended ways for policy makers
to support a better class of climate change journalism
which is relevant for local audiences, builds public awareness of the issues and contributes to improved policy making. Climate change journalism can protect people and promote sustainable development, only if it is accurate, timely and relevant. According to the briefing paper strengthening the media’s capacity to cover climate change can help countries to plan and implement domestic policies that work on the ground, while also meeting their international obligations.
Further in the paper states that, Policymakers will also have a role to play by improving the media’s access to locally relevant policy information & engaging the media in policy and planning processes.
