National Green Reporting System Of Sri Lanka

The Annual Green Reporting Ceremony 2012 held on 21st December 2012 at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. This event was organized by the Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

 
One of the Missions of National Action Plan for Haritha Lanka programme is “Greening the Industries”. The operation of industries can lead to environmental damage to its surroundings through various actions such as the discharge of effluents and emissions.
Under this mission, strategies and actions have been developed for greening the industries and to eliminate the source of environmental degradation, such as promoting sustainable and cleaner production in industries.

Green reporting is an effective communication tool that can be used for sharing information on the sustainability performance on social, economic, environmental and governance system of an organization.

The National Green Reporting System Of Sri Lanka was developed based on the Third Generation (G3) of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) which is widely used by the global community at present as a reporting framework for sustainability performance as environment, labour, human rights, and other cooperate citizenship issues.
