President Waheed Inaugurates Modern Water Desalination Plant In Dhuvaafaru Island
Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Waheed has inaugurated a water desalination plant on the island of Dhuvaafaru on April 13 2013, Speaking at the ceremony, the President highlighted that this modern desalination plant, equipped with latest technology, was the future of water processing in the Maldives.
In a statement posted on the President’s Office website, Dr Waheed said that providing drinking water to some 60 islands annually came at a “huge expense” to the state, despite what he claimed was a “good amount” of rainfall in the country each year.
