Mt.Ubinas in Peru which erupted on April 14th has raised ash clouds covering the skies up to 4000m high. Eruptions from Ubinas, considered the most active in Peru have been reported since 1550.

Technical Director of Peru’s Institute of Geophysics, Jose Machare, said while they have seen an increased level of volcanic activity, the levels have not exceeded those registered in the last major eruptions between 2006 and 2009.“Given the Ubinas volcano’s eruption crisis, the government has already taken measures to declare a state of emergency for the surrounding communities ” said Machare.Officials said it would take three days to move 4,000 residents and their livestock to safer grounds. The 5,672-metre (18,609-foot) volcano is located about 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of Arequipa, Peru’s second-most populous city.
