175 People Killed In Kashmir Floods

According to reports 175 people reported to be killed by massive floods in the region of Kashmir. This is the worst flooding there in 60 years has submerged villages and ruined crops. State of Kashmir has been divided since shortly after independence from British rule and partition in 1947 created the separate states of India and Pakistan. 

Main city Srinagar in Kashmir state was severely hit by floods and 13, 0000 people have been relocated in the area so far.  Meanwhile Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew over the Kashmir valley recently.  “This is a national level disaster,” Modi said. He announced 11 billion rupees ($180 million) in disaster relief payments, as well as compensation to victims and their relatives.
