Death Toll Exceeds 2000 In Kathmandu

According to reports more than 2200 bodies was found a day after the massive earthquake devastated the Kathmandu. Officials in Nepal stated that most of the deaths occurred in Katmandu and the surrounding valley, and that more than 4,700 people had been injured.

17 climbers has been reported killed by an Avalanche triggered from the earthquake in Mount Everest.  A group of survivors from Mount Everest avalanche was flown to country’s capital on Sunday and taken to hospitals. 7.9 Magnitude earthquake has also caused 34 deaths in North India damaging lot of buildings in Bangladesh and Tibet.

Tremors and aftershocks still shook the region and another powerful magnitude 6.7 aftershock triggered Kathmandu area of Nepal on Sunday. The U.S. Geological Survey says the aftershock registered at a very shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles) and that damage was very likely within a radius of 50 kilometers (31 miles). The epicenter was Kodari, around 80 km east of Kathmandu.

The Chinese government has decided to provide 20 million yuan (3.3 million U.S. dollars) in humanitarian aid to Nepal following the massive earthquake, according to the Ministry of Commerce on Sunday.
