President Takes Action To Save Wilpattu
President Maithripala Sirsena had ordered for the immediate stop to the deforestation and land clearing taking place at the Wilpattu National Park,
President’s Media Division said today that the President had instructed the respective units to take immediate legal action against persons involved in the deforestation and land clearing taking place at the Wilpattu National Park. Environmentalist claims that deforestation was taking place without a proper assessment report, Series of incidents was recorded in Wilpattu Wild Life Park since January of 2010 clearing forests reserve for settlements and farming.
