Powerful Earthquake In New Zealand
The US Geological Survey states that the magnitude-7.8 quake hit just after midnight (11:02 GMT on Sunday), some 95km (59 miles) from Christchurch.
Further to the tremor Tsunami warnings have been issued around the coasts of New Zealand.
According to reports a tsunami hit the north-eastern coast about two hours later. Officials states that the first waves were not much large and the second wave is possible causing huge catastrophes
