Dengue Fever Patients Exceeds 69,000
According to the Epidemiology Unit of Ministry of Health, so far this year 69380 suspected dengue cases have been reported from all over the island compared to the 23,814 case reported for the same period in the previous year, Causing 200 deaths for this year. Health Ministry further states that percentage of school children with dengue fever has increased by 20%.ÂMeanwhile Ministry of Health will take measures to launch a systematic program on waste management and spraying smoke for mosquitoes will be launched. The Cabinet has approved to recruit 1500 persons for this task. Action will be taken to obtain high standard spray machines from Germany. Recent floods also results an increase of dengue crisis in Sri Lanka.
