Heavy Rain Continues In Sri Lanka

According to Met Department the prevailing weather condition expected to continue until next Tuesday if a lower level atmospheric disturbance developed in the Bay of Bengal. It is predicted that showers will falls up to 150mm in some places such as Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Meanwhile residents in several areas were evacuated such as Ratnapura District including Getangama, Muduwa and Ratnapura town were evacuated due to floods. National Building Research Organization (NBRO) issued warnings of landslides to residents of Eheliyagoda, Ayagama, Ratnapura, Elapatha, Kuruwita Pelmadulla Divisional Secretariats of Rathnapura districts, Dehiowita in Kegalle and Bulathsinhala in Kalutara to evacuate to safer areas if the rains continue. Strong winds also expected in East’s coasts of Sri Lanka.
