Experts Convene To Address Human Mobility Changes In Hindu Kush Region
Experts convene at ICIMOD to address human mobility challenges in the region’ on the conclusion of ‘Regional Knowledge Forum on ‘Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Sustainable Development Goals in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. The workshop was participated by many academics from Asia and was held at ICIMOD Headquarters, Kathmandu, Nepal.The workshop was hosted jointly by the Ministry of Population and Environment (MoPE) of the Government of Nepal, International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), International Organization for Migration (IOM), Nepal Institute of Development Studies (NIDS), and Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD). Further National-level workshops in the coming months will follow-up on the recommendations elaborated in Kathmandu.
The objective of this knowledge forum was to bring together policymakers and experts from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Myanmar with the aim to mainstream human mobility in national policies regarding climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development goals, with a particular focus on preparing actionable recommendations with the expectation to share best practices and lessons learned across the region.
