79 Elephant Death Recorded In 2018
According to reports 79 elephants have been killed during the firsts six months of this year in Sri Lanka. 17 people also have been killed during this year due to elephant attacks around the country so far.Human- Elephant conflict is rising every day in the country and President Maithripala Sirisena instructed relevant authorities to expedite the construction of of new fences island wide through a systematic program to keep the elephants away from the villages.
