5 Million Saplings Planted Under Ruk Ropana Program
Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment initiated to plant 5 million saplings in Mahaweli Region.
The program is initiated with the guidance of President Maithripala Sirisena and this project hopes to increase the forest density in the country. According to Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment 50 lacks of saplings been proposed to plant in one region. 10 regions overall selected for this project The saplings will include medicinal herbs and food corps plants. The required saplings will be produced within the regions and in Kotmale Nawadewwa Mahaweli Central plant house has already produced 75,000 plants.
