World Ozone Day 2019
September 16th is the day to celebrate world ozone day. Sri Lanka proudly celebrated 30 years of ratifying the Montreal Protocol on this year as Sri Lanka is one of the key countries in banning HFC gas from the country.
Today a special commemorative stamp was issued by Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment and was presented to UNDP during the main event today. Montreal Protocol has led to the phase out of 99% ozone depleting chemicals in refrigerators, air conditioners and in other products.
