US Embassy Issues Warnings On Air Quality In Colombo.
US Embassy in Colombo issued to be cautious on air quality in Colombo as it was indicated the 173 Air quality index recently. National Building Research Organization also stated that a significant amount of air quality changes was observed in the western coast atmosphere.
According to NBRO air quality levels has indicated level worsened in Colombo, several areas in the north of Sri Lanka including Jaffna and Vavuniya and also in Puttalam areas are also indicates high value. The AQI is a system for recording pollutant concentration measurements, into a scale to represent the health risk posed by ambient air pollution. The index formula usually considers up to 6 main pollutants and calculates the respective health risk (or AQI number) for each one at any given time.
