According to reports 2019 recorded most number of elephant deaths in Sri Lanka.
Scientists states that 361 elephant deaths was reported island wide during 2019. It was estimated that the elephant population is about 7500 in Sri Lanka and this is the highest ever death record repeated in the country after independence.
