President To Discontinue Palm Oil Cultivation
Addressing the Inaugural session of the ninth parliament, President Rajapaksa stated that to stop palm oil cultivation’s completely.
President made this announcement to promote production of export crops such as pepper, cinnamon, rubber, tea and coconut. He further stated that replacing the crops in palm oil cultivation’s will generate substantial foreign exchange for farmers through value addition to agricultural products and export measures. President further stated that prohibiting palm oil cultivation’s will aid the plantation sector.
