President Decides To Construct Controversial Road Near Sinharaja Forest Reserve
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday instructed officials to complete the Neluwa-Lankagama road within 90 days without doing any harm to the Sinharaja Forest Reservation or the Eco-System. President made this comments after visiting the area and the Lankagama village.
The village next to Sinharaja rain forest reserve used to be 500 years old with 180 families living in the village presently. Villagers requested the road construction as they face difficulties to carry people to the hospital of Neluwa.
