A New Horn Lizard Discovered In Sri Lanka
A new species of horn lizard was discovered by a research team in Sri Lanka. The lizard was named Ceratophora ukuwelai in recognition of famous herpetologists from Rajarata university Dr.Kanishka Ukuwela.New species was discovered by Sameera suranjan Karunarathne, Poyakorv, Amarasinghe, Surasinghe, Bhushev, Madawala, Gorin and De Silva. Endemic horned lizard can be found low land rainforest in Sabaragamuwa province, Sri Lanka. This is the 6th species recorded from Sri Lanka and all lizards are endemic to Sri Lanka. According to IUCN the newly discovered species is critically endangered in Sri Lanka.
