CEA To Commence Recycle Toothbrushes And Carbon Pen Tubes
Central Environment Authority launched a program to recycle used carbon pens and toothbrushes. The first container designated for this purposes was handed over to President Gotabaya Rajapaksha by Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera recently.According to Environmentalists toothbrushes and carbon pen tubes takes 500 years to decay. The program named Api Hedee Rata Hadamu will be carried out within schools island wide as 80kg of carbon pen tubes collected per day in Sri Lanka as waste. This number is estimated to exceed 29,0000kg per annum and CEA is still calculating the amount of carbon pen tubes disposed by private institutions in Sri Lanka. The special container will be provided to all schools and Wax industries will collect these plastic items.
