Rare Skink Sighted In Northern Province
Ceylonese Dasia (Dasia haliana) a rare endemic skink was sighted in Northern province recently. The skink was seen by a villager who went to find wood to Omantai forest.Species originally described from Haly & Nevill in 1887. This is the first sighting in Northern province of Sri Lanka. A stamp and coins was also issued for this species during 1979 in Sri Lanka.
