Ministry of Culture and Sports, Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council Sign MoU
The Ministry of Culture and Sports signed on Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council to achieve the common goals of the two entities, and utilize their experiences in the fields of youth development and empowerment, and the discovery and nurturing of talents.
The MoU addresses the cooperation of the two parties in supporting the implementation of the Qatar Research Development and Innovation Strategy 2030 in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030, by improving the future supply of competencies and talents in the field of research, development and innovation.
Director of Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports Maha Issa Al Rumaihi said: “Within the framework of the Ministry of Culture and Sports’ keenness to support institutional partnerships that contribute to achieving its strategic directions of strengthening the foundations of national identity, the Ministry took the initiative to sign this memorandum with the aim of implementing the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Strategy 2030, which is considered an ambitious step towards placing Qatar among advanced countries in the fields of science, research and innovation.”
She indicated that the MoU addresses the areas of the Ministry’s contribution to achieving the goals of the Qatar Strategy for Research, Development and Innovation 2030, through implementing a number of programs and projects aimed at promoting the culture of science and innovation, and working to create a base of outstanding talents in the fields of science, research and innovation.
For his part, Secretary-General of Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council Omar Ali Al Ansari commented: “This MoU contributes to providing a cooperative framework between the two sides in order to strengthen the efforts aimed at building capacity and spreading awareness among young people, which qualifies them to play a fundamental role in leading the efforts of building an economy based on knowledge and technology, which is one of the most important goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.”
He added that the Council seeks to coordinate the efforts of local and international stakeholders in the government, academic and business sectors, as part of its aspiration to make a qualitative leap and advance the future growth of the State of Qatar on the social and economic levels, by creating an effective and vital system in the field of research, development and innovation.
