Fires Destroy Nearly 17,000 Hectares Of Forest In Southern France

Forest fires that broke out in some areas of the Atlantic coast have destroyed nearly 17,000 hectares so far, French authorities announced on Tuesday. 
Local sources said that the fires that broke out since last Tuesday have destroyed 17,000 hectares of vegetation, including 12,000 hectares in the in Landiras region, and 5,000 hectares in La Teste-de-Buch. 
Sources indicated that more than 30,000 people were evacuated from the areas affected by the fires. 
Many western European countries are continuing their efforts to combat the devastating forest fires that have ravaged them for days as a result of a heat wave that is expected to continue until the coming days, especially after temperatures exceeded record levels in France and Britain.
