Record Income In Yala National Park

A record number of people visited the Yala National Park between December 23, 2022 and January 2, 2023.

Wildlife Conservation Department Director General Chandana Suriyabandara who met Agriculture, Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Minister Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday said that that the Wildlife Department has earned a lot of income during the above period.

During that period, Yala National Park recorded the highest income so far in single day on January 02nd. The record income was Rs. 11. Million.

Thus, 2022.12.23 Rs.3,940,487, 24th Rs.4,136,654, 25th Rs.4,298,032, 26th Rs.5,011,064, 27th Rs.6,476,505, 28th Rs.8,190,277, Rs.6,973,495 on the 29th, Rs.8,056,954 on the 30th, and Rs.5,282,070 on the 31st.

And this year, the highest income earned on January 1st is Rs.4,708,450 and on January 2nd was Rs.11,264,179.10.

The Director General also informed the Minister that since a large number of foreign tourists have arrived in the southern province of Sri Lanka, most of them come to see the animals in Yala Park every day.

Further plans are underway within the next two weeks to welcome more foreign visitors.


The Director General said that the programme targets to earn the necessary dollars for the country also focusing on other national parks.
