3 Killed Due To 7.0 Earthquake In China

In Akqi County, three individuals lost their lives, identified as belonging to the ethnic Kyrgyz group, and 9,632 residents were forced to evacuate. The incident resulted in six injuries, with two individuals in critical condition, while 47 homes collapsed, and 78 suffered damage. The broader impact encompassed a total of 210 collapsed homes and 8,079 structures with varying degrees of damage in the affected regions. Within the Kizilsu Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture, where Akqi County is situated, 93 buildings collapsed, 851 sustained damage, and 910 livestock animals perished. The earthquake led to the displacement of 18,346 people across Xinjiang, though the sparsely populated nature of the area contributed to minimal casualties and damage.
