World Sea Grass Day 2024

World Seagrass Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness of the importance of seagrasses as a core component of marine biodiversity, the threats that they face, and their contribution to sustainable development and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
On 23 May 2022, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed 1 March as World Seagrass Day, to be observed annually, and invited the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) to facilitate the observance of the Day.
