National Green Reporting System
National Green Reporting system was launched recently
by the Ministry of Environment.
The report was launched to address the challenges of economic development within the
framework of sustainable development. This system will enable to recognize,
appreciate and reward the manufacturing and service sectors based on their
sustainability & performance which would also facilitate them to compete with
the International and Local Markets.
Speaking at the event Minister of power and Energy Hon.Patali Champika Ranawaka
stated that this reporting system was initiated under the National Action Plan in 2009,
Minister Ranawaka pointed out that Green Technology not only involves Energy,
and the country looks forward for sustainable technologies.
Minister of Environment Hon.Anura Priyadarshana Yapa also expressedhis views at the event Minister stated that Launching of the Green Reporting system will lead the buisness
community with more innovations and more performance while creating a forum to discuss unresolved problems of economic development.
Guidelines of the National Green Reporting System was initially developed with the
technical assistance of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce through
the Switch Asia program funded by European Union.
National Green Reporting System comprises with a governing council and a
National Green Reporting steering committee.
The Governing councils provides policy directions and guidance to ensure that organizations activities are align with sustainable development.
Green Reporting steering committee will comprise members from Government sector,
Private Sector and Civil society Organizations.
