Nine Dead In Oklahoma City After Tornadoes Hit
The death toll has increased to nine and includes two children after tornadoes and violent storms hit central Oklahoma.
One of the children was a baby killed along with his mother as the tornadoes rolled in from the prairie and slammed Oklahoma City and its suburbs, crumbling cars and tractor-trailers along a major interstate.
It was not immediately clear how many people were injured by the series of storms that struck the area around Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoman newspaper’s website reported that at least 87 people were treated in local hospitals.
As the extent of the devastation became clear, cleanup efforts were complicated by severe flooding caused by downpours that drenched the region overnight.
