President Instructs A Gazette Notification To Extend Wilpattu Forests Cover
President Maithripala Sirisena instructed authorities to publish a gazette notification to declare Wilpatthu Sanctuary as a wildlife zone. Further President also instructed the officers concerned and investigate allegations of destruction took place at Wilpattu Sanctuary in the areas of Mannar and Puttalam districts and to deploy a special team to inquire into it and submit a report.
The President’s Secretary P.B. Abeykoon, Environment Ministry Secretary Udaya R. Senevirathne and Sustained Development and Wild Life Ministry Secretary R.M.D.B. Meegasmulla were among those who attended this discussion.
