The 10th World Health Summit, one of the most prominent international conferences on Global Health, has kicked off this morning with 1,000 participants in Berlin, Germany. “We are delighted that so many experts from academia, politics, civil society and the private sector are here. Together we are strong!”, said Professor Detlev Ganten, the Founding President of the World Health Summit.
The M8 Alliance, the academic Think Tank and backbone of the World Health Summit, has issued their Berlin Declaration 2018 stressing the central role of health as a driving force for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. “We strongly advocate a holistic and science driven approach to solving the global health challenges. Public and global health funding needs to increase”, Detlev Ganten said.
The World Health Summit is being held under the high patronage of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker. From October 14th to 16th, 300 speakers from 100 countries will give presentations in 50 sessions to the expected total of 2,500 participants.
