234,078 Dengue Cases Reported In 2019
Ministry of Health Epidemology recorded 234,078 dengue cases causing 47 deaths in this year up to end of July. 58 people was killed during last year due to dengue. The ministry advice public to take steps to destroy mosquito breeding sites to prevent increase of dengue victims.Epidemiology unit of Ministry of Health identified Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Rathnapura and Galle as highly risk areas for dengue disease while Colombo recorded the highest number of patients this year. Western province recorded the highest number of patients this year. Ministry of health also advised pregnant mothers to get admitted to hospital on the first day when they get fever without delay.
