New Regulation To Banned Single Use Plastic
Central Environment Authority (CEA) will submit a proposal to cabinet ministers to banned single use plastic from 2021.According to CEA the proposal will aim specifically to ban single use plastic such as shampoo, hair gel, plastic straws, and plastic water bottles. The CEA has cited the extensive damage caused to the environment due to the use of such products. Director-General of the CEA Hemantha Jayasinghe said the use of small plastic bottles containing soft drinks is also to be regulated under the proposal. Furthermore CEA is will also look at possible alternatives for plastic yoghurt spoons and plastic clips used in the packaging of shirts.
