Earthlanka Youth Network (Guarantee) Ltd. is a pioneering environmental youth organization in Sri Lanka with 15+ years of experience in climate change, youth engagement, and sustainable development. We are currently implementing the Youth Climate Ambassadors University Project in partnership with the British Council Sri Lanka, empowering university students across 3 institutions to lead climate action through research, advocacy, and innovation.

Project Manager – Youth Climate Ambassadors (YCA) University Project

Location: Colombo (with travel to Jaffna and Southern provinces)

Duration: July 2025 – March 2026 (9 months)

Type: Full-Time Consultancy Contract

Remuneration: Competitive – aligned with NGO sector rates (negotiable based on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager to lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the YCA University Project. The successful candidate will coordinate a dynamic team across multiple universities and ensure effective delivery of climate action projects, mentorship programmes, sub-grant management, and stakeholder engagement.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day management of the YCA University Project in coordination with British Council, mentors, and university partners.
  • Supervise project officers and ensure timelines, deliverables, and budgets are met.
  • Organize training workshops, field visits, and student-led events in Jaffna, Kelaniya, and Ocean Universities.
  • Oversee student sub-grants and mentor project implementation within university teams.
  • Facilitate weekly reporting and documentation, ensuring alignment with British Council guidelines.
  • Ensure safeguarding, gender inclusion, and environmental sustainability principles are upheld.
  • Liaise with partner organizations and honorary mentors (local and international) to support project quality.
  • Represent Earthlanka in project meetings and climate-related forums as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, Development Studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing donor-funded projects in the NGO or development sector.
  • Strong experience working with youth-led or university-based climate/environmental initiatives.
  • Proven ability in project budgeting, reporting, stakeholder coordination, and team supervision.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, inclusive education, and climate policy in Sri Lanka.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Sinhala/Tamil (trilingual capacity is an advantage).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, digital collaboration tools, and familiarity with project M&E.

Desirable Attributes

  • Familiarity with British Council programme guidelines or similar international donor reporting.
  • Strong background in community-based action research or climate-related fieldwork.
  • Experience in managing virtual and hybrid (online/offline) mentorship and training programmes.
  • Prior work with academic institutions or student groups in a leadership capacity.
