New Species Discovered
Approximately 200 new species
of plants & animals has been discovered
from the Nakanai Mountains & Muller mountains in Papua New Giunea by a Rapid Assessment Program(RAP).This program was conducted during just 2 months in last year & it was coordinated by the Conservation International (CI) with the help of several other institutes.This was a part of the CI’s project to document the biodiversity in the poorly known but species rich environments.
The new findings includes 24 new frogs, 2 mammals (a mouse & a fruit bat) nearly 100 insects, 9 plants & approximately 100 new spiders.
