Key Issues At CITES

The 61st meeting of Standing Committee of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) ended yesterday. 
in Geneva, Outcomes was positive for wildlife conservation during this years summit.

Summit increased the attention on the role of Asian countries in the illegal trade in ivory, rhino horn and tigers. 

“We are very happy with the outcomes of the meeting overall,” said Dr Colman O Criodain, WWF’s wildlife trade policy analyst. 

“Attempts by some countries to evade scrutiny of their role in illegal trade only ensured that these countries are now more under the spotlight than before.”
