Winners Of COP21 Youth Climate Video Competition Announced
Two young climate activists from Nepal and Uganda who have told compelling stories of youth engagement to combat climate change have been chosen as the winners of the 2015 Global Youth Video Competition.
The winners, Saraswati Upadhaya from Nepal and Charles Batte from Uganda will travel to the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris at the end of the year and work with the communications team of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in covering highlights of the meeting.
The competition was launched by Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE: http://unfccc.int/cooperation_and_support/education_and_outreach/youth/items/8945.php), UNFCCC secretariat, in partnership with Television for the Environment (tve) and supported by the Global Environment Facility’s Small Grants Programme, which is run by the UN Development Programme.
Young people between the ages of 18 and 30 were called upon to participate. Entries were submitted from young people in 60 different countries, from Kenya to the United States.
