Navy Canal Cleaning Project Launched
Navy canal cleaning project commenced in Katu Ela which flows down near to Bellanvila Rajamaha Viharaya recently. According to Sri Lanka Navy the debris blocked in the canal causes flood during heavy rainy periods over the area and a specially trained navy personnel are deployed for the Navy canal cleaning project.
Sri Lanka Navy has already established a special unit to clean the water ways and reservoirs clogged with debris to keep the water ways clean to protect these resources for future generations.
