COP 26 In Glasgow From 1-12 November 2021

The COP 26 UN Climate Change Conference new date is announced: 1 – 12 November 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland. As you are aware, the UNFCCC announced the conference’s postponement in early April due to concerns related to the COVID-19 crisis.

 

Despite the conference’s postponement, 2020 remains a crucial year for making progress on climate change. The COVID-19 pandemic has made the situation even more critical – as nations roll out their economic recovery packages.  The UN Climate Change secretariat has been working diligently to help ensure these packages are in line with a clean, green, healthy, safe and resilient future.

 

The key upcoming initiatives which are planned in order to continue the climate momentum throughout 2020. New this year, June Momentum for Climate Change will be taking place from 1 – 10 June 2020. This series of online events offers an opportunity for the international climate community to meet virtually and continue exchanging views and sharing information, including to showcase how climate action is progressing under the special circumstances the world is currently facing.

 

The Bonn Climate Change Conference (Subsidiary Body sessions) which is scheduled will take place, as planned, from October 4 – 12 of this year.

 

As the UN Climate Change secretariat works towards convening these events and other upcoming initiatives to address the climate crisis, we recognize that our partnerships are critical to these efforts.
