Minister Of Environment And Climate Change: Qatar Among Leading Countries In Enacting Legislation For Protection Of Marine Environment

HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie said that the State of Qatar is among the leading countries in enacting legislation aimed at protecting marine environment, achieving sustainability, and addressing challenges facing marine life.
In special remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency added that legislation developed to fulfill these goals is complemented by decisions and policies to sustain marine fisheries and confront all circumstances on an ongoing basis.
There are many factors facing marine challenges, the most important of which are climate change, high temperatures, and others, he stated, pointing out that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) is moving at a steady pace to confront these challenges.
His Excellency said that marine fisheries in the State of Qatar are safe and that there are many ambitions to be proactive in this field, stressing the need for initiatives to develop and enrich these places in order to ensure their sustainability and address their challenges.
Regarding the marine wildlife forum, organized by the MoECC today, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change said that this event represents a meeting for the MoECC with those interested in the field of the marine environment and fishing, representatives of fishermen, environmental activists, and experts specialized in marine life, stressing that these initiatives are of great significance for preserving and developing the marine environment.
HE Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie concluded his remarks to QNA by saying that this forum comes as part of the initiatives undertaken by the MoECC to discuss mechanisms, policies and decisions for the sustainability of fisheries and seaports. Sources: (QNA)
